A Whitpain township police officer narrowly missed being run over by a car while attempting to engage its driver at a Golfview Drive playground on June 25 around 1am, according to police.
Just beforehand, police say, the driver, a white male, had exited a recently-parked Hyundai that was there after hours, and entered a Honda CRV that was parked in the lot. Another white male had run from the Hyundai and towards a nearby gazebo, according to a police report.
According to police the officer leaned in through the Honda window, identified himself to the driver and instructed him not to move. The driver started driving away with the officer still in the window, police say. He eventually fell out and was nearly run over by the car and the Hyundai also drove away, police say.
