Whitpain Police, Giant to Partner for Drug Take-Back Day

Giant Food Stores are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Whitpain Township Police to participate in the national "drug take-back" initiative on Saturday, September 29.

Expired and unwanted medications can be brought into participating Giant Food Stores from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. All medications will be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner at no cost to the customer.

"Giant…is proud to once again partner with the DEA and local law enforcement agencies this year to provide a safe place in the community where customers can properly dispose of unwanted or expired prescription and over the counter medications," said Leigh Shirley, director of pharmacy operations for Giant Food Stores. "Our medication take-back day earlier this year resulted in the collection of nearly three tons of unwanted medications and we urge customers to clean out their medicine cabinets for this fall disposal drive."

There is no cost to participants and customers will not receive refunds. Personal information (for example, names and addresses) should be crossed out or removed. No sharps or syringes will be accepted.

The Giant Food Store at 1760 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell, as well as 1201 Knapp Road in Montgomery Township are participating in the drug take back program on Saturday.
