Whitpain Police Reports: Lansdale Man Arrested on County Bench Warrant

Police incident reports from Whitpain Township Police Department.

Retail Theft - On Dec 24th at 7:49 am, officers were called to SuperFresh at 1301 Skippack Pk for a report of a Retail Theft in progress. A store employee reported that a white male attempted to steal $81.92 worth of shrimp, but when confronted, left the food and fled. Police later contacted Joseph Spada, 63 yrs old of the 3100 block of Gaul St in Philadelphia, who turned himself in at the police station and was arrested for summary Retail Theft and released.

Public Drunkenness - On Dec 23rd at 4:11 pm an officer noticed a male stumbling on Skippack Pk near Carriage Ln. When the officer stopped to speak to the subject, it was apparent he was intoxicated. Fred Hackett, 50 yrs old of the unit block of Toxony Ave in Glenside was cited for Public Drunkenness and later released to a friend.

Drug Arrest - On Dec 18th at 10:58 am Deshan Dyson, 22 yrs old of the 1300 block of Dyson St in Philadelphia was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia. Charges were filed after he was found in possession of Marijuana during a traffic stop on Dekalb Pk at Jolly Rd.

DUI Crash - Joseph Coyle, 35 yrs old of the 1300 block of Fayette St in Conshohocken was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for blood after a one car crash at 520 Plymouth Rd on Dec 24th at 5:10 pm. Mr Coyle reported that he was driving on Plymouth Rd when the Honda he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. During the accident investigation, officers noticed that Mr Coyle smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet. Charges including DUI will be filed upon receipt of the blood results.

Disorderly Conduct - On Dec 23rd at 2:08 pm an officer noticed a suspicious vehicle leaving the baseball fields on the PECO property on North Wales Rd. The officer stopped the Dodge and identified the driver as a seventeen year old juvenile of Ambler. During the stop, the juvenile turned over a pipe with burned marijuana in it. He was cited for Disorderly Conduct and released to a friend.

Warant Service - On Dec 23rd at 2:16 am, police were checking the West Ambler section of Whitpain Township after Ambler police received a report of subjects looking into cars. While investigating this complaint, an officer located Curtis Walton, 50 yrs old of the 300 block of Broad St in Lansdale asleep in his car. During a check, it was discovered that there was an active Montgomery County Bench Warrant. He was taken into custody and later released to the Sheriff’s Department.

DUI Crash - On Dec 23rd at 3:29 am, police responded to 570 Stenton Ave for a one vehicle crash. On location, police found that a Lexus driven by Danny Chiu, 34 yrs old of the 100 block of Gwynmont Dr in North Wales, left the roadway and struck a tree. During the crash investigation it appeared to police that Mr Chiu had been drinking. He was taken to Mercy Suburban for blood. Police also located marijuana and paraphernalia and charges including DUI, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia will be filed upon return of all lab results.

DUI Crash - On Dec 20th at 10:50 pm an officer witnessed a Cadillac crash into a Verizon box in the 1000 block of Green Tree Rd. While speaking to Jerome Leftwich, 64 yrs old of the 400 block of Forrest Ave in Norristown, he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to Mercy Suburban for blood and will be charged with DUI once blood results are received.
