Whitpain Police Reports: Woman Arrested After Accident for Drugs, Harassment

Police incident reports from Whitpain Township Police Department.

Assault -  On Sept 6th at 4:22 pm, officers responded to the area of Oak St and Maple Ave for a report of an assault that just occurred. The victim told police that he got into an argument with a male subject at the McDonald’s on Butler Ave in Ambler and then began walking west on Oak St. As he was walking down the street, Daniel Hawkins, 19 yrs old of the 300 block of Francis Ave in Ambler, approached him with a baseball bat and hit him on the upper leg, leaving a visible mark. The victim was able to get the bat away from Mr. Hawkins and the actor fled in a blue Jaguar. Mr Hawkins was positively identified and a warrant issued for his arrest. On Dec 4th Philadelphia Police advised they had Daniel Hawkins in custody on our warrant and he was arraigned by District Justice Sobeck and bail was set at $5,000/unsecured.

Assault - On Dec 8th at 12:49 pm, officers responded to a three car accident on Skippack Pk at Village Cr. The investigation revealed that a Toyota driven by 32 yr old resident of Blue Bell, was stopped at a red signal on west bound Skippack Pk. His Toyota was struck in the rear by a Nissan driven by Susan Fuls, 51 yrs old of the 1400 block of Whitpain Hills Drive. Ms Fuls reported that her Nissan was struck in the rear by a Ford driven by 56 yr old Judith Bates of Barto. A passenger in the Toyota was taken to Einstein Hospital for injuries and that car was towed for rear damage.

As police arrived at the scene an officer observed Ms Fuls walk up to the driver of the Ford, was yelling at her and waving her arms in the air and then jumped on the back of the Ford and began to strike her and pull her hair. She was taken into custody for assault and during her arrest, the officer located cocaine and pills in her purse. She is being charged with Simple Assault, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Paraphernalia, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, Driving While Under Suspension and Driving with an Expired Registration. Ms Bates was cited for Careless Driving.

Warrant Service - On Dec 7th at 2:35 pm, an officer on patrol on Oak St in the Ambler section of Whitpain Township noticed Curtis Walton, 50 yrs old of the 300 block of Broad St in Lansdale, seated in a Mazda. As the officer checked, it was discovered that there was an active Montgomery County Bench Warrant for Mr Walton. He was taken into custody and later released to the Sheriff’s Department.

Public Drunkenness - On Dec 10th at midnight, an officer noticed an occupied vehicle by the Rita’s Water Ice in the 900 block of Dekalb Pk. As he walked up to the car he noticed the driver was texting. As the officer spoke to 36 yr old Jason Crochunis of the 400 block of Forrest Ave in Norristown, it was apparent that he was intoxicated. He was cited for Public Drunkenness and released to a friend.

Retail Theft - On Dec 5th at 5:04 pm police were called to Kohl’s Department Store, 1301 Skippack Pk where Brandi Schwartz, 23 yrs old of the 600 block of Sandy St in Norristown was in custody for attempting to steal $62.00 worth of merchandise. During the arrest, officers located a small amount of marijuana in her purse. She was arrested for Retail Theft and Disorderly Conduct and later released.

Retail Theft - On Nov 24th at 5:29 pm, an officer was called to the Giant Food Store, 1760 Dekalb Pk for a theft that took place on Oct 28th. The officer was given video of a male subject that stole steaks and razors valued at $220.32. The actor was later identified through the video as Matthew Wertz, 24 yrs old of the 400 block of Old Elm St in Conshohocken and that he was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec 3rd before District Justice Lukens for Theft. Officers obtained a warrant for Retail Theft  and Receiving Stolen Property and arrested Mr. Wertz at his preliminary hearing in Conshohocken. Bail was set at $5,000/unsecured for this case.
