Baldwin Again Cleaning Up After Flash Flooding

Even more flooding is possible Friday as severe storms are forecast.

BALDWIN, PA - In what seemingly is becoming a near-daily ritual, borough residents again are cleaning up after flash flooding hit the area Thursday.

Although flooding was reported in Ross and Pleasant Hills, waters seemed to rise particularly quickly and highly in Baldwin. Allegheny County 911 reported high water and flooded basements throughout the borough and the rising waters made the intersection of Baldwin and Glass Run Roads on the Hays-Baldwin border a temporary river.

Chapon’s Greenhouse on Streets Run Road once again was engulfed by flood waters, much to the irritation of owner Tom Chapon.

“This year is the worst I can ever remember it,” Chapon told KDKA-TV. “Three weeks ago, four floods in two days, now everything’s so saturated it can’t hold it.”

Baldwin flooding could again be a problem on Friday. More severe storms are in the forecast, bringing the potential for more flash flooding.
