Baldwin's three fire companies announced a significant move Tuesday. Get the details here.
BALDWIN, PA — The three independent fire companies in Baldwin merged on Tuesday and now will operate as a single unified organization. South Baldwin (Station 104), Baldwin Independent (Station 105) and Option Independent (Station 107) now operate collectively as Baldwin Fire Rescue Station 106.
The unification is designed to improve efficiency and reduce redundancy.
"By consolidating operations, Baldwin Fire Rescue will optimize resources, making better use of available funding while maintaining the high standards of safety and professionalism the community expects," the companies stated in a joint release.

"This merger also ensures that Baldwin Fire Rescue remains a premier fire rescue organization, capable of addressing the growing needs of our community while strengthening our ability to respond to emergencies. Residents can expect the same swift, effective dispatch responses, as Baldwin Fire Rescue prioritizes deploying the right apparatus for every situation."
Over the next year, fire vehicles will receive updated lettering to reflect the change. Residents who receive fund drive letter could continue to receive mail and email communication from the pre-merger names for as long as two years, the release stated.
