Bomb Squad Summoned After Possible Whitehall Car Explosion

WHITEHALL PA — The Allegheny County Fire Marshal's Office and borough police are investigating a possible explosion that occurred Sunday morning.

At 6:13 a.m., borough police and the fire company were called to the 4400 block of East Barlind for reports of a loud bang with smoke in the area. They found a blue Toyota SUV with shattered windows. The county police bomb squad was summoned to the scene as a precautionary measure.

The preliminary investigation indicated an explosion might have occurred inside the vehicle.

No injuries were reported, and police said there was no active threat to the community.
