PA Cop Hit, Dragged By Car During Traffic Stop: Police

Authorities said the police officer was dragged approximately 200 feet down Route 51.

WHITEHALL, PA — A Whitehall police officer was injured Saturday morning when the driver of a stopped vehicle tried to flee and dragged the officer more than 200 feet down a Pennsylvania highway.

According to Whitehall police, the officer initiated a traffic stop on Clairton Boulevard near Beall Drive just before 3:45 a.m. The vehicle's driver tried to flee during the stop, dragging the officer approximately 200 feet down the highway, police said.

The officer was taken to a local trauma center to treat moderate injuries, police said.
