Ranking Baldwin-Whitehall's Most Terrific Taverns

BALDWIN, PA - Summer is a season to get out of the house and socialize, and there aren’t many better ways to do that than by imbibing with a friend or neighbor at your local tavern or restaurant. Ah, but which one? The Baldwin-Whitehall area has several. Which are the best?
Opinions vary, of course. But we sought the thoughts of Yelp users on the topic.
What follows is their top five list of bars in Baldwin and Whitehall. Do you agree with the choices? Do you see a glaring omission? Is one or more of these places overrated?

1. Tavern 51, 4604 Clairton Boulevard, Whitehall
The food gets as many raves as the drinks at this unpretentious neighborhood bar rated Baldwin-Whitehall’s best. “Road rage burger is awesome and the rare appearance of the pot roast special is to die for. Karen's margarita is the fabulous,” wrote one Yelp reviewer. Added another: “I had so much fun at Tavern 51. The drinks prices were very reasonable. The bartender was fun and attentive. They have a great patio out back. The decor is nice and the place could not be cleaner.”
2. Loose Moose Saloon, 5185 Brownsville Road, BaldwinWrote one Yelpster: “The prices, bottle selection and food are just so damn good. if you are a bar food and atmosphere person this is your place. Great wings, pizza, other stuff. The pool area is nice.” Added another:”When you go inside it's like you've been transported to dive bar heaven.”
3. Pleasant Bar, 32 Old Clairton Road, Baldwin
Always a great time,” opined one Yelp regular. “Great service, cold beer and good food. Smoking allowed so be mindful, but if you’re looking for a great old school bar, look no further.”
Love this place. Great specials. Dollar burger night is pretty awesome. And the service is great.”
4. The Backdraft Bar & Grille, 3049 Churchview Ave., Baldwin
One Yelpster described this place thusly: “It is a great little neighborhood bar that has a decent selection of beer, good food, and a nice atmosphere to gather with friends.” Another described a lively place, writing, “Can get very busy especially on the weekends. They often have live bands playing or a DJ.”
5. Crafthouse Stage and Grill, 5024 Curry Road, Baldwin
“Great place. Bar seats about 50 people, room for about 150 more at tables and floor (and it has) live bands, great sound system, great food,” one Yelp reviewer wrote. Another thumbs up from this reviewer, who wrote, “Love the beer selection. Lots of food and drink specials for happy hour. This place is huge.”
