Vehicle Window Smashed on South Passage Drive

Window Smashed

A Whitehall Borough resident from the 5000 block of South Passage Drive contacted police at around 7 a.m. on Feb. 26 to report that a rear window of his van had been smashed out.

The incident occurred sometime after 7 the previous night while it was parked in the victim's driveway, Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said.

Police checked in and around the van in an attempt to find an object that could have been used to do the damage, but nothing was found.

Nothing was stolen from the van, and the victim could not think of why anyone would target him.

"It appears to be an isolated incident," Dolfi said.

Assault, Harassment Charges Along Parkline Drive

Whitehall police went to the rear parking area of 1801 Parkline Dr. in the Whitehall Place Apartments complex of the Wallace (Prospect) Park area at around 10:20 a.m. on Feb. 26 in response to a disturbance there, Dolfi said.

As officers arrived, they came into contact with a man outside of the apartment building and began interviewing him and investigating the scene.

During that interview, the officers received information that another individual who was involved in the disturbance was at the nearby Whitehall Place management office.

Further investigation revealed that an argument had taken place between the two people that led to the first man breaking a door off of its hinges at an apartment residence and damaging other furnishings at that same residence, Dolfi said.

The man—identified by police as Eric Wadley Hillman, 23, of 239 S. 2nd St. in Duquesne—also threatened the other person, who then fled to the management office, Dolfi said.

Police took Hillman to the Whitehall police station and then to the Allegheny County Jail. He is being charged with simple assault and harassment.

Suspected Marijuana Along Parkline Drive

Whitehall police came across a suspicious vehicle in the rear of 1745 Parkline at around 12:20 a.m. on Feb. 26.

A woman seated in that vehicle leaned forward and made some frenetic hand movements upon seeing police, Dolfi said.

Officers investigated the situation to see if the woman was OK, Dolfi said, and upon talking to her, they detected the odor of marijuana and observed a glass smoking bowl on the driver's-side floorboard.

Police are charging the woman—Emily Jean Lowen, 32, of 1765 Skyline Dr., Apt. 50, in the Prospect Park area—with disorderly conduct.
