1 Killed In I-95 Crash In Bensalem

Traffic was backed up for hours Wednesday morning as state police detoured motorists after the wrong-way crash.

BENSALEM, PA — A driver was killed in an early-morning crash on Interstate 95 in Bensalem on Wednesday after being hit by another driver going the wrong way on the highway.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash happened at 1:41 a.m. on the highway's northbound lanes near Academy Road.

A 33-year-old woman from Camden, N.J., was driving southbound in the interstate's northbound lanes when she struck a Chrysler 300. The driver of the Chrysler, whom police were not identifying publicly Wednesday morning, was killed in the crash.

The New Jersey woman was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

All traffic was being detoured off of the busy interstate during Wednesday's morning commute hours, according to state police spokesman Trooper Nathan Branofsky.

The highway was re-opened at about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The crash remained under investigation late Wednesday morning. Anyone with information is asked to call the Pennsylvania State Police Trevose barracks at 215-942-3900.
