Serious Crash Shuts PA Turnpike Eastbound Lanes

Authorities are on the scene of the crash on Monday afternoon just past the Bensalem interchange.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Three people are reported injured in a multi-vehicle crash that closed the eastbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Monday afternoon, backing up traffic into Montgomery County, authorities said.

The Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department said that numerous fire companies are on the scene of a serious crash on the PA Turnpike just west of the Bensalem interchange.

The fire department said that the eastbound lanes are currently closed to all traffic, meaning that anyone heading eastbound must exit at the Willow Grove interchange until the accident is cleared.

Traffic in the entire area is congested for the Monday evening commute, fire officials said.

The crash is believed to involve multiple vehicles with an entrapment and multiple injuries, according to reports. Action News 6 reported that three people were taken to area hospitals with injuries.

Authorities said that EMS is responding. They are asking drivers to avoid the area.
