Bensalem Rt. 1 Construction This Week: See Planned Closures

Ramp and roadway construction is set to continue this week on Route 1. Here's where to avoid in Bensalem:

BENSALEM, PA - Ramp and roadway construction is set to continue this week on Route 1 between Old Lincoln Highway and the Neshaminy Exit, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced last week.

This week’s roadwork is set to reconstruct, widen and improve a three-mile section of Route 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships, officials said, as well as improve interchanges and construct new bridges between Old Lincoln Highway and Route 1.

The following road closures will be in place:

  • Monday, March 27, through Thursday, March 30: From 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., a single lane pattern will be in place in both directions on Rockhill Drive between Horizon Boulevard and Neshaminy Boulevard for stormwater drainage construction.
  • Monday, March 27, through Friday, March 31: From 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. alternating, double lane closures are scheduled in both directions on Route 1 between Old Lincoln Highway and the Neshaminy Exit for pavement surface grinding.
  • Friday, March 31 to Monday, April 3: From 8 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., the ramp from southbound U.S. 1 to Rockhill Drive at the Neshaminy Exit will be closed for construction. Motorists will be detoured south on Route 1, west on Street Road (Route 132), then north on Old Lincoln Highway to Rockhill Drive. This work had been scheduled for this weekend but has been postponed due to weather.

Motorists are advised to build in extra time when traveling through or near the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather permitting.
