Board Appoints New Principal for High School

The following was provided by the Bensalem Township School District:

The Bensalem Township Board of School Directors at their May 22, 2013 meeting approved the appointment of Stephen T. Brandt to the position of high school principal.  

Brandt received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and his Master’s in Education from Cabrini College.  He also received his Pennsylvania Administrative Certification from Cabrini College and earned his Superintendent Letter of Eligibility at St. Joseph’s University.  He is currently a Doctoral candidate in the College of Education – Literacy and Learners at Temple University.  His proposed dissertation focuses on Student Transition from High School to College.  

Brandt has extensive knowledge and experience working as an educational leader in both the School District of Philadelphia and the Norristown Area School District.  He served as principal at East Norriton Middle School, John Story Jenks Elementary School and for the past three years at Roxborough High School.  During his tenure at Roxborough High, his students’ PSSA scores have increased 14 percent in Reading and 12.7 percent in Mathematics.  He joins Bensalem Township School District to continue his distinguished career in education.

Brandt is the proud recipient of the Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Principal Leadership.  He also received commendation from the Pennsylvania Department of Education for School Improvement and under his leadership Roxborough High was recognized as a School District of Philadelphia Best Practice School for Safety and Climate.     

Brandt is eager to use his educational training and experiences to make a positive and immediate impact on Bensalem High School, its students and families, and the Bensalem community.
