Galloway Road Bridge Detour Not Ending Soon
The bridge is being lengthened so that the Pennsylvania Turnpike beneath it can be widened.

Are you tired of the Galloway Road detour? Well we’re sorry to say, but it’s going to be around for quite a while still, making the already gridlocked Bensalem area even more difficult to navigate by car.
To remind everyone, the road is closed because it carries a bridge over the Pennsylvania Turnpike at about milepost 351. As part of the long-anticipated Turnpike/I-95 Interchange Project, the Turnpike in Bucks County near I-95 needs to be widened and thus the Galloway Road Bridge and another on Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in Bristol Township need to be lengthened.
The projects began in November and the Turnpike expects the bridge replacements, estimated to cost about $10 million, to take approximately one year. Both bridges were originally built in 1957.
