
NEW CASTLE, Del. — The Holy Family University women’s basketball team picked up its eighth straight victory after defeating Wilmington University, 95-39, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road contest Thursday night.
Holy Family, ranked 18th in the recent USA Today/ESPN Division II National Top-25 Coaches’ Poll and second in the NCAA Division II East Region, improves to 18-3 overall and 15-1 in the CACC. Wilmington is now 2-22 and 2-15 in the CACC.
Sophomore Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and senior Lindsey Tennett (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) led the offensive attack scoring a game-high 17 points apiece. Mann also grabbed nine boards, two steals and a blocked shot. Tennett had nine boards to go along with three assists and four steals off the bench for the Tigers.

Senior Catherine Carr (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) scored 16 points and dished out six assists. In the process, Carr moved closer to the Holy Family all-time scoring record. She now sits 75 points away from Debbie Schopfer’s program record of 1,928 career points. Carr currently has 1,853 career points.
Graduate student Samantha Thompson (Southampton, Pa./St. Basil’s) contributed 14 points after knocking down four three-pointers (4-5). Senior Meghan Gibson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) added eight points, seven rebounds and five assists.

For Wilmington, senior Ashley Davison had a team-high ten points and six rebounds to lead the Wildcats.
Holy Family’s defense limited Wilmington’s offense to only 30.4-percent shooting from the field and 14 total field goals. The Tigers also forced 27 turnovers in the one-sided victory.
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 19 as the Tigers host Nyack College in the team’s final regular season home game of the season. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.

Holy Family is now 5-19 overall and 3-11 in the CACC, while Wilmington improves to 8-16 overall and 6-10 in the CACC.
Junior Tim Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) led Holy Family with a game-high 22 points after shooting 6-of-12 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Smith also grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists. Freshman Rashaad Sneed (Durham, N.C./Hillside Heat Academy) contributed 14 points to go along with five rebounds. Fellow classmate Alberto Munoz (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) added eight points and six rebounds.
For Wilmington, junior Matt King led the team with 19 points as five players finished in double-figures for the Wildcats. King also had seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Sophomore Isiah Mason had 18 points, while junior Corye Payton contributed 14 points. Freshman Herb Dennis tallied 13 points and junior Ed Freeman came through with ten points and eight rebounds.
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 19 as the Tigers host Nyack College in the team’s final home regular season contest. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
