
PHILADELPHIA — The Holy Family University women's basketball team will be making its eighth straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament after receiving an at-large bid as announced by the NCAA during its selection show, which was aired on NCAA.com Sunday night.
According to a release, Holy Family, ranked 15th in the recent USA Today/ESPN Division II National Top-25 Coaches' Poll, received the number two seed in the East Regional and will face Goldey-Beacom College in the quarterfinals. The Lightning are seeded seventh in the tournament. Â
This will mark the fourth time these two teams will meet this season with the most recent meeting occurring less than 48-hours ago in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship game. Goldey-Beacom defeated Holy Family, 66-54, to claim this year's title.
Bentley University of the Northeast-10 Conference received the top-seed in the region and will serve as host of the East Regional. The Falcons will face C.W. Post in the quarterfinals. The Pioneers, a member of the East Coast Conference, received the eighth seed.
Other matchups include, #3 Franklin Pierce University facing #6 Pace University and #4 Assumption College taking on #5 the College of Saint Rose.
