Holy Family Women Earn Tournament Seat

PHILADELPHIA — The Holy Family University women's basketball team will be making its eighth straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament after receiving an at-large bid as announced by the NCAA during its selection show, which was aired on NCAA.com Sunday night.

According to a release, Holy Family, ranked 15th in the recent USA Today/ESPN Division II National Top-25 Coaches' Poll, received the number two seed in the East Regional and will face Goldey-Beacom College in the quarterfinals.  The Lightning are seeded seventh in the tournament.  

This will mark the fourth time these two teams will meet this season with the most recent meeting occurring less than 48-hours ago in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship game. Goldey-Beacom defeated Holy Family, 66-54, to claim this year's title.

Bentley University of the Northeast-10 Conference received the top-seed in the region and will serve as host of the East Regional.  The Falcons will face C.W. Post in the quarterfinals.  The Pioneers, a member of the East Coast Conference, received the eighth seed.

Other matchups include, #3 Franklin Pierce University facing #6 Pace University and #4 Assumption College taking on #5 the College of Saint Rose.
