NYT-Bestselling Author Kwame Alexander To Present At New Hope-Solebury
Students are preparing for his virtual visit by watching interviews with the author and trying writing exercises in his signature style.

NEW HOPE, PA — Author Kwame Alexander will pay a virtual visit to the New Hope-Solebury School District on Oct. 14 for a series of presentations.
In a news release, the district said students have been preparing for his visit by watching and discussing interviews with the author, and by viewing his live readings. They are also engaging in writing activities that correlate with his signature free-verse style, while exploring his books and the works of comparable authors available in the school libraries.

“We are so very fortunate to bring Kwame Alexander in conversation with our students,” Mary Schwander, the high school librarian, said. “In addition to his books being extremely popular with young people, he is also a vibrant speaker who is passionate about the joy of reading and the importance of literary themes and characters which reflect our diverse world.”
A poet, educator, and New York Times bestselling author of 28 books, including The Undefeated, Swing, and Rebound, the follow-up to the Newbery medal-winning novel, The Crossover. A regular contributor to NPR's Morning Edition, he is the recipient of numerous awards including The Coretta Scott King Author Honor, The Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Prize, three NAACP Image Award Nominations, and the 2017 Inaugural Pat Conroy Legacy Award.

In addition to presentations to students, Alexander will also host a virtual program open to the public at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14, which will serve as a culmination to his visits with students. He will speak about his experience as an educator and writer, and field questions from the audience.
Registration is free and available online. The program is supported by the New Hope-Solebury Education Fund.
