Man Charged With Attempted Rape Of Bensalem Woman
Bensalem Police said the Philadelphia man was fought off by the woman in her apartment on Tuesday afternoon.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A Philadelphia man has been captured after he allegedly broke into a township apartment on Tuesday afternoon and attempted to sexually assault a woman, police said.
Louis Sophie, 45, of Philadelphia, was charged with burglary, attempted rape, simple assault, and related charges. He was arraigned and sent to Bucks County Prison on 10 percent of $1 million bail.
Police said that Sophie is a registered sex offender in Florida.

Bensalem Police responded to Lafayette Gardens on Bristol Pike at 2:48 p.m. after a woman said she defended herself against "a heavyset white male" who entered her apartment through an unlocked front door.
The man grabbed the woman and began taking his clothes off, police said. The woman began to scream for help and fought off the attacker.

Sophie then fled and crossed into Philadelphia through the Poquessing Creek, police said.
Bensalem Police swarmed the area and stopped a man matching the attacker's description at the Sunoco station located at Frankford Avenue and Knights Road.
