Man Extradited To Face Charges In Fatal Bensalem Shooting
Bensalem Police said Orenthia Upshur is in custody for allegedly fatally shooting his girlfriend at a Street Road hotel in January.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A Trenton man charged with the shooting death of his girlfriend following a fight at a Bensalem hotel has been extradited to Bucks County from a New Jersey prison, police said.
Bensalem Police said Orenthia Upshur, 51, of Trenton, N.J., was transported from prison to Bensalem by the Bucks County Sheriff's Department after waiving extradition on Monday.
Upshur was charged with Criminal Homicide, Unlawful Restraint, Kidnapping, Weapons Violations, and other related offenses. He was arraigned by District Justice Falcone and was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility after bail was denied.

Bensalem Police responded in the early morning hours of Jan. 15 for reports of a fatal shooting at the Sleep Inn on Street Road.
An individual, identified as a family member, entered the Pennsylvania State Police Trevose Barracks and told troopers that Upshur said to him that he shot his girlfriend, Maisha Coon, 49, also from Trenton, N.J., in a Bensalem hotel.

He also stated that Upshur and Coon have been fighting recently and overheard an argument between them on a phone call at 12:39 a.m. that day, police said.
State Police obtained location information from the victim’s cell phone in the area of Country Commons Apartments and then coordinated with the Bensalem Township Police Department and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office to conduct a large-scale search of all hotels in the area.
State Troopers checked the Sleep Inn on Street Road and discovered that Coon rented a room at the hotel on Jan. 14. Police entered the room and found Coon's body on the floor with apparent gunshot wounds.
At 4:30 a.m., Trenton Police received a 911 call of shots fired near the intersection of Parkside Avenue and Oak Lane.
When officers arrived, they heard more shots and then saw an armed suspect run into a home on Oak Lane. More shots were fired from inside the house as police surrounded the residence.
The Mercer County Tactical Response Team responded, eventually entered the home, and took Upshur into custody. Police recovered a gun that is believed to have been used in the shooting.
