Masked Gunman Shoots Clerk In Bensalem Robbery

The clerk was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he underwent surgery, according to police.

BENSALEM, PA — A gunman wearing what appears to be a surgical mask shot a smoke shop clerk during a robbery attempt in Bensalem on Friday, according to police.

Bensalem Township Police officers were called at about 9 p.m. Friday to First Stop Cigarettes and Cigars, at 919 Bristol Pike. Upon arriving, they learned that a man had walked into the shop, pulled a black revolver and demanded money.

During the robbery, the gunman fired a single shot, striking the store clerk in the chest.

The employee was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he underwent surgery and, according to police, is expected to survive.

Police say surveillance video showed the shooter leave the store and meet up with a second man who had waited outside. The two were last seen walking into the parking area of the Grandview Gardens apartment complex, according to police.

The gunman is described as standing about 6' tall and wearing a grey sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes. The other man was wearing a light-colored shirt, dark pants and white sneakers.
