New COVID-19 Cases Declining, Hospitalizations Steady In Bucks Co

Last week's statistics also showed that 187 children had tested positive for COVID-19 between Sep. 25 and Oct. 1.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — At the beginning of October, new COVID-19 cases were on the decline in Bucks County, according to the latest data from the Bucks County Department of Health. Area hospitalizations remain steady, the health department said.

Last week's seven-day case average was 132 cases per day, compared with 152 new cases per day the previous week.

Between Sep. 25 and Oct. 1, the health department reported at least 925 new cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, 111 were in residents aged under 12, and 76 cases were in residents between 12 and 18, according to the data.

As of Monday, there were at least 66 people being treated for COVID-19 in Bucks County hospitals; the previous week there were 61 COVID hospitalizations. Thirteen residents are in the intensive care unit, and two are on ventilators.

There was no change in Bucks County’s COVID-19 test positivity rate of 6.4 percent, as compared to the previous week. The Centers for Disease Control continues to label the county as a “high” transmission level community.

When looking at the beginning of October in 2020, the county was averaging less than 40 cases per day and hospitalizations related to COVID were in the single digits.

People are still getting vaccinated in the county, with 2,087 doses administered last week. About 61 percent of the eligible population, 12 and older, are fully vaccinated; 68 percent have received at least one shot.
