The purpose of the trail is to provide a living, working memorial to  Massaroni who passed away after completing the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street 10 mile Run with a group of Shafer students and staff in May 2007.  The memorial will provide a place for the Bensalem community to participate in cardiovascular fitness.  It will further provide the Shafer Physical Fitness staff with a vehicle for the overall fitness of the Shafer students.

Special thanks to retired Shafer teacher, Hugh Mundy for working with Senator Tommy Tomlinson, State Representative Gene DiGirolamo and State Representative Tina Davis to attain the matching funds from Parx.
