Parx Slots Earn $31M in January

Bensalem casino's slots generate $17 million in taxes.

Revenue generated through the play of slot machines at were over $31.6 million in January, an increase of 8.8 percent over last January when revenue was $29.1 million.

According to a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board release, casinos statewide increased 7.44 percent over the same period from $177.3 million in January 2011 to $190.5 million last month.

As usual, Parx was the runaway leader in slots revenue followed by Sands Casino in Bethlehem at $22.5 million and Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino at $21.9 million. Harrah’s Casino in Chester was the only one in Pennsylvania to show a decline over last January’s figures. It earned $21.6 million last year compared to $20.1 million this year, a 6.81 percent drop.

Slots at Parx generated over $17 million in taxes and assessments in January. All 10 state casinos generated $103.5 million for an average of $3.3 million of tax revenue generated per day.
