Police Increase Presence At Bensalem HS Following Threats

The threat, which was considered not credible by authorities, nevertheless prompted the added security for safety measures.

BENSALEM, PA — Bensalem Police have increased their presence at Bensalem High School after reports of threats to the school was made over the weekend.

On Monday, Dec. 13, the Bensalem Township School District made a statement on the nature of the threat and the precautions that are being taken as a result.

"Over the weekend, the District received several Safe2Say Something tips about a threat made regarding Bensalem High School. Bensalem Township Police were immediately notified and the threat was deemed NOT credible."

In the same statement, they said that more officers from the Bensalem Police Department will be on the school grounds for the safety of student and staff.

"Out of an abundance of caution, Bensalem Police and the Bensalem School District have put extra measures in place to ensure the safety of all students," the department said on their official Facebook page.

Whether the threat was gun-related or not has yet to have been made public.

This comes after a week of threats to several Bucks County schools. Bristol Borough High School saw two threats made to the school last week, as well as one made to Snyder-Girotti Elementary School in Bristol on Monday, Dec. 6. William Penn Middle School saw a student bring a hunting-style knife into school on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
