Watch: Bensalem Drivers Get Ornaments, Not Tickets
Police officials in the township hope the small gift, along with a warning, will help spread holiday cheer to motorists.
BENSALEM, PA — Some drivers who run afoul of traffic laws in Bensalem are getting a holiday gift instead of a ticket this week.
On Wednesday, police in the township announced that officers have been handing out holiday ornaments, along with warnings, instead of citations during some stops.
Bensalem Police shared a video from NBC 10 on the seasonal traffic stops.

"Instead of money for the commonwealth, we give someone a holiday ornament and hopefully it puts them in a better mood for the day, knowing they got a break, and maybe they'll give a break to the person they come in contact with," said Fred Harran, Bensalem's public safety director, in the video.
Bensalem notes that officers may be in the holiday spirit, but still have discretion whether to issue citations or warnings. They're still checking registration, licenses and more whenever they make stops.
