Weather Service Issues Thunderstorm, Flash Flood Warnings

The severe thunderstorm was in the area around 10 p.m.

At 952 p.m., the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly issued a severe thunderstorm warning and flash flood watch for the area including parts of Bucks and Montgomery counties.

The thunderstorm warning is in effect until 10:45 p.m.

According to the warning, the storms were capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

In addition to damaging winds, dangerous cloud to ground lightning was occurring with this storm.

The weather service said to move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of natures greatest killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

The flash flood watch is in effect until 2 a.m.

Additional rainfall amounts of an inch or two are possible in the warned area.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips or low water crossings.

Overnight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday: A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. West wind between 3 and 9 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.
