American Muslim Leader Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf to Speak at Lehigh University

Imam Feisal, founder and chairman of the Cordoba Initiative, http://www.cordobainitiative.org, will speak regarding “The Evolution of an American Islam” on Monday, April 16, 7:30 p.m. at Lehigh University, Packard Lab 101.

Feisal has been vocal about shaping the discourse around American Islam and advancing American Muslim identity. In May 2011, Time Magazine named Feisal as one of The World’s 100 Most Influential People, describing him as having “moderate, colloquial eloquence.”  Feisal was one of the key visionaries behind the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque.”

The Cordoba Initiative is an independent, multi-faith, and multi-national project whose objective is to heal the relationship between the Islamic world and America/the West. Through the Cordoba Initiative, Feisal advocates for ways to bridge the divide between Muslims and non-Muslims.
