Paralleling the 1049 miles the Iditarod mushers and dog teams travel from Anchorage to Nome each year, our Idita-Skaters will challenge themselves to collectively skate 1049 miles in 120 minutes. The journey begins at 6 p.m. when each Idita-Skater receives an Idita-Skate card. Skaters will take to the ice and skate laps around the rink. Ten laps = 1 mile. The Idita-Skater will check in and have their Idita-Skate card stamped with Zorro’s paw print. Each skater’s distance will then be added to the mileage tally on the Iditarod Trail map and will help advance the team from “Anchorage towards Nome!"
It costs $10 to skate and $5 to be a spectator. Proceeds benefit Lance Mackey's dogs.
