Get Wild in SouthSide for First Friday

"Born to be Wild," is the theme of South Bethlehem's monthly arts, music and shopping party.

 

South Bethlehem’s monthly First Friday tonight bows to this weekend’s “Ride for Life” motorcycle event for Muscular Dystrophy that will be riding through the neighborhood’s streets Saturday.

The theme: “Born to be Wild.”

Get a temporary tattoo and hear Bethlehem singer/songwriter Dina Hall at , 21 E. Third St.

, 120 W. Third St., will have something called a “Blue Motorcycle” drink special. There will also be hot BBQ samples, local artists displaying their wares and karaoke with Dave Loehr starting at 8 p.m.

, 7 E. Fourth St., hosts Philadelphia’s Lizanne Knott for a CD release party for her new record, Marionette. Knott will be sharing the stage with JD Malone, Jack Murray, Tom Hampton, and Tommy Geddes. The suggested donation for the performance is $10.

Loose Threads Boutique, 9 W. Fourth St., celebrates its third anniversary in the SouthSide with a sale, free food and drink and a chance to win a $50 gift certificate. DJ Discreet spins the tunes.

Last, but definitely not least, the , 25 W. Third St., hosts an opening reception for a new show by painter Richard Redd, Surface and Symbol, a 50-year retrospective featuring 64 paintings and prints in the Crayola Gallery. Redd will present a talk on the show starting at 7 p.m.

The featured resident artists are Lara Bly Allaik and Elizabeth Schlegel. There will also be displays of glassblowing, jewelry making, ceramics and photography. Visitors who register between 6 and 9 p.m. for a class – excluding glass and ceramics – will receive a 5-percent discount.
