Miller-Keystone Blood Bank Extends Hours in Bethlehem, Reading

Miller-Keystone Blood Center is extending operating hours at its Bethlehem and Reading donor center locations on Wednesday evenings.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) has announced extended operating hours at its Bethlehem and Reading donor center locations on Wednesday evenings. Starting Wednesday, October 7 through Wednesday, November 19, the Bethlehem and Reading facilities will operate from 6:30 am to 11:00 pm.

“A recent survey suggests that some individuals would donate more often if more convenient evening hours were available,” states Sean Tinney, Director of Marketing. “Over the next two months, we will be extending our operating hours at our Bethlehem and Reading donor centers on Wednesday evenings to better accommodate our donors’ busy schedules.”

Miller-Keystone’s Bethlehem site is located at 1465 Valley Center Parkway, while the Reading facility is located at 2745A Leiscz’s Bridge Road in Bern Township.

More than 450 donors are needed every day to meet the transfusion needs of accident victims, cancer patients, premature infants, and others in need of life-saving transfusions in our regional hospitals. Miller-Keystone serves as the only blood provider to all hospitals located in Lehigh, Northampton and Berks counties, and only blood donated through MKBC is transfused at these facilities.

Tinney confirms that if proven successful, MKBC will evaluate continuation of the extended operating hours.
