Warning Issued About Drugs that Look Like Candy

Bethlehem Police Department warn parents and teachers about green, ice cream cone shaped ecstasy tablets.

 

issued a warning to parents and teachers Friday about illicit drugs that children may easily confuse with candy or cookies.

Police seized a number of ecstasy tablets while making an arrest made on Wednesday. The tablets were green and shaped like ice cream cones, said police, who issued a picture of the tablets to the public.

Ecstasy is an amphetamine, which produces a feeling of euphoria and intimacy in users and is commonly associated with dance parties known as raves.

The ecstasy that police seized was made with a Play-Doh mold and closely resembles small cookies or candy.

“No information was received that would lead the BPD to believe the suspect sold or intended to sell to children or on school property,” police said through a news release.

“However, educators and parents should be aware that this ecstasy can be easily confused with candy or cookies by children and should make their children aware of the dangers this presents.  Please make your children aware of not taking candy or cookies from persons they do not know and trust.”
