Police: SouthSide Man Had Sex with 7th Grader

18-year-old man met 14-year-old girl through his younger sister and began sexual relationship in May, according to court records.

 

An 18-year-old South Bethlehem man who carried on a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl since May has been charged with statutory rape and other crimes, according to court records.

Angel DeJesus of 533 Wyandotte St. was committed to Northampton County Prison Wednesday after failing to post $100,000 bail. He was also charged with aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault and arraigned before

DeJesus met the 14-year-old girl through his sister, who is also 14. According to the arrest affidavit, both girls were seventh-graders at when the relationship began.

Both the girl and DeJesus told police that they had engaged in sexual intercourse five or six times in the defendant’s bedroom, the affidavit said. The investigation began when the girl’s mother made a complaint to police on Friday.

The warrant says that during an interview with police, Det. Moses Miller asked DeJesus how he would feel if he found out that a man his age was having sex with his sister. “I would be very upset,” DeJesus said.
