The Temptations Come to Musikfest Cafe

Get fresh produce and lunch at the Bethlehem Farmers Market, meet a wild animal at the South Side Branch of the library.

Good morning Bethlehem. It is Thursday, July 25, the 35th birthday of Louise Brown, the world's first test-tube baby.

On this day in 1965, Bob Dylan walked onto the stage at the Newport Folk Festival with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and an electric guitar. Dylan was famously booed for his first live electrified music set, but the worlds of rock and folk music would never be the same.

  • Bring the kids to meet wild animals face-to-face at the South Side Branch of the Bethlehem Area Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Eyes of the Wild rescues animals, nurses them back to health and then uses them to educate the public.
  • Learn or brush up on your public speaking skills at the Lehigh Valley Toastmasters, which is holding its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at Christ Church UCC at 75 E. Market St.
  • Ben Dumm & The Deviants have shared the stage with legendary punk bands such as The Misfits and Agent Orange. Tonight at 7 p.m., the band plays a free concert at the Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks.
  • You couldn’t tell the story of the popular music of the 1960s without The Temptations. Their hits, including “My Girl,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “I Wish It Would Rain,” “I Can’t Get Next To You,” and “Just My Imagination” are still well-remembered by anyone who had a radio or a stack of 45's back in the day. Of the original five group members, only Otis Williams survives. But he continues to tour with a Temptations group that will sing at the Musikfest Café tonight at 8. Tickets at $42 and $54 are still available.
