Woman Killed in Accident was on Bach Choir Board

The woman who died after being struck by an SUV on W. Broad Street Friday night was called a member of the Bach Choir Board of Managers in town to hear the choir sing during the .

Jane Smudin, 80, of New Hope, was also retired artist who worked in the advertising industry, according to this piece in The Express Times.

In her last hours, Smudin listened to the choir sing Bach Cantatas and had dinner with friends at , 221 W. Broad St., according to The Morning Call. She was struck by the vehicle while walking back to her car at the corner of W. Broad Street and Third Avenue and at .

The next day, the choir performed its signature piece, Bach’s’ Mass in B-Minor, in Smudin’s honor. The choir also pays tribute to Smudin in this blog.

Police have not released much information on the vehicular accident since it happened. The driver’s name has not been released and the incident is is still under investigation.
