The night manager of a combined Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell in Upper Darby is accused of setting up a robbery at her own store, according to a report at Philly.com.

Mary Dalton, 32, had been working at the Baltimore Pike Kentacobell along with an 18-year-old employee late Wednesday night when she reported to police that they had just been robbed at gunpoint. The perpetrator had gotten away with $2,800, according to the report.

Police at the scene reported that they thought Dalton story – that the surveillance video had been malfunctioning, with no explanation of how the assailant entered the store – and opted to take her back to the station for questioning.

That’s where she reportedly confessed to cooking up the story, allegedly explaining how she set the robbery up with her nephew, a North Carolina man whom police are still searching for.

The 18-year-old employee has not been charged.

Dalton, charged with theft, is lodged in Delaware County Prison on $100,000 bail.
