Gladwyne Resident Nearly Drowns in Pool Accident

The 40-year-old woman is in critical but stable condition at Lankenau Hospital.

Update 1:20 p.m. July 5: The 40-year-old Gladwyne woman who nearly drowned in a pool last Wednesday night is now conscious and stable, according to Lower Merion Township spokeswoman Brenda Viola. Last Thursday, the woman was in critical but stable condition.

A 40-year-old Gladwyne resident is in critical but stable condition after nearly drowning Wednesday night, Lower Merion police said Thursday.

Lower Merion police and Narberth Ambulance crews responded to a report of a pool accident on the unit block of Conshohocken State Road in Gladwyne at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, said Lower Merion Police Lt. Bernard D’Amour.

When police arrived, the woman’s husband was providing emergency medical care to her as he was being directed over 9-1-1 for Montgomery County, D’Amour said.

Police and Narberth Ambulance took over medical care and transported the woman to Lankenau Hospital, he said.

The woman’s 5-year-old son ran inside the house to tell his father that his mother was at the bottom of the pool, D’Amour said. The incident is being handled by police as a home accident.
