'Major' Two-Day Snowstorm, Nor'easter To Strike

Snow will first fall early Monday, slowing the morning commute, and then turn into a nor'easter, according to the National Weather Service.

Yes, you’ve heard it before. But this one could the real deal, forecasters say.

Winter Storm Juno will be a “major snowstorm” for eastern Pennsylvania on Monday and Tuesday, with as much as a foot of snow falling in some area.

Here’s what could happen, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Sunday night into Monday, new snow accumulation of about an inch is likely.
  • On Monday, winds of up to 14 mph and new snow accumulation of up to 4 inches.
  • Overnight Monday, an additional 5 inches of snow may fall
  • On Tuesday morning, new snow accumulation of up to 3 inches.

Overall, the NWS said, expect “heavy snow and drifting,” with total accumulation of up to a foot of snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, saying ”one of the largest snow storms of the winter” may impact the Philadelphia region.

There “could be a major impact on commerce and travel Monday night through Tuesday morning,” the NWS said.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for all of the region, saying Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
