New Gladwyne Elementary Rooms to Open in Second Week of School

School officials are rearranging space for the first two days of classes.

Four new modular classrooms at Gladwyne Elementary School are expected to be ready for use beginning Monday, the third day of Lower Merion School District's year, according to district spokesman Doug Young.

Students begin classes Tuesday before taking off Thursday and Friday.

"Space has been allocated in the auditorium for the first few days of school and teachers are sharing classrooms as needed," Young said.

The modular rooms have been under construction this summer on Gladwyne's campus, part of a plan to accommodate growing enrollment. Lower Merion's administration is reviewing plans to renovate and expand four of the district's 10 schools in the near future: Gladwyne, Penn Valley Elementary School, Welsh Valley Middle School and Bala Cynwyd Middle School.
