Planning Commission Approves $200M Bryn Mawr Hospital Sketch

Officials plan a massive redevelopment of the main campus in the largest project in the hospital's history.

Bryn Mawr Hospital has taken the first steps toward receiving a major facelift at its main campus on Old Lancaster Road with the approval of its $200 million sketch plan by Lower Merion Township’s Planning Commission, according to Main Line Media News.

Last week’s greenlight for the preliminary plans allows hospital officials to continue developing the designs and eventually take them before the board of commissioners for final approval.

According to the report, the project calls for the construction of a five-story, 202,955-square-foot building in the center of the main campus, adding at least 11 new operating rooms and 54 medical/surgical beds on two floors. Representatives told the commission that the new addition will allow the hospital to upgrade technology and capabilities to meet medical demands now and in the future.
