Canonsburg Man Jailed for Corruption of Minor

Jason Mooney, 41, is in Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $50,000 bond Tuesday.

A Canonsburg man is in Washington County Jail after borough police charged him with a count of possessing material that depicts a sex act with a child.

Jason Mooney, 42, was also charged Monday with corruption of minors, online court records show.

Mooney was arraigned before district Judge David Mark at 11 a.m. Tuesday and was remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $50,000 bond.

He is set to appear for a preliminary hearing before Mark at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11.

The Observer-Reporter newspaper indicated on its website that the charges relate to Mooney having a 12-year-old girl send him a nude photograph.

Canonsburg police Chief R.T. Bell could not immediately be reached for comment on his cell phone Tuesday afternoon.
