Carnegie Woman Crashes Car in Canonsburg, Will be Charged with DUI

Canonsburg police said Marilyn Kay Lynch had a blood alcohol content of .111 percent early Saturday morning.

Canonsburg police charged a Carnegie woman with DUI this past weekend after she reportedly drove her vehicle off the road and into a sign.

Police discovered the silver Neon of Marilyn Kay Lynch, of 23 Fifth St., off the road in the 800 block of First Street around 2:10 a.m. Saturday.

An officer said in a report that he then observed Lynch walking in a grassy area near the car—and that when approached, she stated that she run off the road while attempting to plug in her cell phone.

Her vehicle sustained moderate damage during the crash, and both front airbags were deployed, police said. It was towed from the scene.

Police said the woman smelled of alcohol and that she admitted to drinking earlier in the evening.

Because she complained of injuries to her right knee and face, officers did not conduct field sobriety tests.

Instead, they asked Lynch to consent to a breath test, which she did. A police report indicated that the test showed she had a .111 percent blood alcohol level—which is over the legal limit.

The police report indicated that Lynch was made aware that charges of driving under the influence would proceed by summons.

The woman was then released into the custody of her mother, Mary Massimino.
