Local Fire Fighters Attend Safety Class
The three-hour class was offered earlier this week at the Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Department held a Fire Fighter Accountability and Safety class at the station Monday.
This three-hour course offered by Community College of Allegheny County is offered in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, and focused on the safety of fire fighters by using different accountability systems to track fire personnel while on the scene of emergencies.
More than 20 firefighters participants attended not only Cecil VFD, but also Muse, Cuddy, and Fairview (South Fayette).

“I have been trying to bring State Certified training classes to us in Cecil Township to make it easier for our members to obtain this valuable training without having to travel our of the area,” Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Captain James Chabalie said. “This year, we have been able to offer about 75 hours of state accredited training in our township with classes ranging from rope rescue, to vehicle rescue, to fire fighter safety.”
