Obituary: Helen Jiblets, Canonsburg Resident, Former Pierogie Lady

Helen Rosella Kozlowski Jiblets, 94, of , died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 in Consulate Health Care.

She was born May 4, 1918 in Masontown, a son of Martin and Mary Grohal Kozlowski.

Helen was a lifetime resident of Canonsburg and a member of Saint Patrick Parish and Canonsburg Senior Citizens. She was a member of the former Saint Genevieve Parish, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers, Orchard Lake Society, Rosary Society, choir and Pierogie Ladies.

Helen had been employed by Standard Tin Plate of Canonsburg, Dravo of Neville Island, U.S. Torpedo Station of Norfolk, VA and the Internal Revenue Service in Washington. She was a homemaker and loved to travel to visit family. Helen loved Polish traditions, playing bingo and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Oct 31, 1943 she married Joseph Jiblets, who died March 29, 1992.

Surviving are one son, Joseph M. Jiblets and his wife Debbie of Canonsburg, one grandson, Joseph A. Jiblets of Lawton, OK, one sister, Monica Paloski of Bridgeville, and several nieces and nephews.

Also deceased are four sisters, Anna K. Note, Mary J. Haddow, Rose Fernick and Dolores Stickles; three brothers, Joseph Kozlowski, who died in infancy, Staff Sgt. Walter M.B. Kozlowski, and Henry Kozlowski.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the at 30 E. College St. in Canonsburg.

Departing prayers will be held there at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at . Interment will follow in the St Patrick Cemetery in Canonsburg.
