Pittsburgh Plates: These Local Restaurants & Bars Closed In 2025

This year was a brutal year financially for numerous Pittsburgh bars and restaurants. Some did not survive.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The restaurant and bar business is fraught with considerable risk in any city and not every eatery survives.

Pittsburgh lost a considerable number of high-quality restaurants this year as the city's ever-evolving dining scene seems to perpetually reinvent itself.

The following list is not inclusive, but it includes a list of some of the most high-profile places to eat in Pittsburgh that shut their doors in 2025:

  • Bae Bae's Kitchen, Downtown: Closed in January, opened a few weeks later than closed again. Its adjacent restaurant, Bae Bae's Cafe, closed in November.
  • Eat'n Park, Ross: One of two Eat'n Park on McKnight Road was renamed Dead'n Dreary this month.
  • Grant Bar, Millvale: Nearly a century's worth of tradition vanished when this storied eatery closed in November.
  • Nakama, South Side: Once one of the city's top Asian restaurants, this place shut down after more than 20 years.
  • Primanti Bros., Garfield: Sure, this location closed, but Primanti Bros. still has a gazillion locations in Western Pennsylvania and elsewhere.
