State Trooper from Canonsburg Gets Prison Sentence

Jeffrey Dalessandro pleaded no contest to charges of homicide by vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving under then influence of alcohol.

Suspended Pennsylvania state trooper Jeffrey Dalessandro, 36, of Canonsburg, was sentenced to three to six years in prison Thursday for driving drunk and getting into a crash that killed a man, according to the Observer-Reporter.

While off duty and on his way to Erie for a fishing trip, Dalessandro's pickup truck crossed the center line while going around a curve and collided with a SUV driven by Daryl Nunemaker, 21, of Edinboro, according to the newspaper. Nunemaker was pronounced dead at the scene in Union Township.

Daleassandro's blood alcohol level was 0.13.

Dalessandro pleaded no contest in March to charges of homicide by vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Dalessandro had most recently been assigned to Troop B's Pittsburgh station and also had worked out of the headquarters in Washington, according to the report.
