State Capitol building's Christmas tree is decorated with festive ornaments hand-made by Pennsylvania seniors (fox43.com) — Carlisle Senior Action Center members helped decorate the Pennsylvania Capitol’s Christmas tree with handmade ornaments, putting local creativity on display in Harrisburg through January 8. They joined seniors from 93 centers in 36 counties, contributing to a statewide holiday tradition that highlights older adults’ talents and community spirit.

Elijah Welsh leads Cumberland Valley boys basketball to win over Carlisle (pennlive.com) — Carlisle High School’s boys basketball team fell 61–41 to Cumberland Valley in their Mid-Penn Commonwealth opener, with the Thundering Herd now 1–2. Senior guard Elijah Welsh powered Cumberland Valley with 20 points, including a big third quarter, while Carlisle’s balanced scoring couldn’t close the gap in Mechanicsburg.
   

3. Lena M. Waite (fultoncountynews.com) — A Hustontown woman who passed away at UPMC Carlisle Hospital is being remembered by family across south-central Pennsylvania. Lena Marie Waite, 71, leaves behind her husband, children, grandson, and siblings after a life centered on family. Services were held privately, with arrangements by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg.
   

4. Local students showcase artistic talents in PennDOT Paint the Plow program (abc27.com) — Carlisle High School students are among five Midstate schools painting PennDOT snowplows in this year’s Paint the Plow contest, and local residents can help choose the winner. The safety-themed artwork promotes careful winter driving, and online voting runs through December 14, with both a Fan Favorite and Judge’s Pick to be named.
