Franklin County teen was 'acting strange' before stabbing mom, cops say (heraldmailmedia.com) — A Franklin County teen is jailed without bail after police say he repeatedly stabbed his mother, a case now moving toward a Dec. 23 preliminary hearing at the Franklin County Judicial Center in Chambersburg. Local and state agencies, including Chambersburg Police K-9, helped track and arrest the suspect after a multi-county search, while the victim underwent emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries.

2. Staffing shortage temporarily closes Chambersburg Salvation Army, halting donations (wgme.com) — If you usually donate to the Chambersburg Salvation Army Family Store, be aware the store is temporarily closed and not accepting donations because of staffing and volunteer shortages. Other Salvation Army programs will still serve Chambersburg, and reopening will depend on how quickly they can rebuild their volunteer base, with updates shared by phone and Facebook.

'It was a nightmare': Chambersburg man worried for health, future after deportation by ICE (local21news.com) — A longtime Chambersburg custodian and father has been deported to Mexico, leaving his family, health, and job at Falling Spring Elementary and the Chambersburg YMCA in limbo. Neighbors have launched a petition, GoFundMe, and a planned peaceful protest as his doctors urge ICE to allow a medical return because of serious diabetes-related complications and vision loss.

4. Patricia L. (Rock) Sellers 1941-2025 (fcfreepresspa.com) — An 84-year-old Greencastle woman who recently received care at Mercy House and Chambersburg Hospital has passed away, leaving a close-knit family across Greencastle, Waynesboro, and beyond. Her obituary remembers decades of homemaking, work at local businesses, and her love of cooking, WRGG radio, and reading, with graveside services to be held privately.

5. Cinda O. Emerick 1929-2025 (fcfreepresspa.com) — A longtime member of Fourth Street Church of the Brethren in Chambersburg, 96-year-old Cinda O. Emerick has passed away at Paramount Senior Living Chambersburg. Her memorial service will be held Thursday, December 18, in Ellerslie, Maryland, and friends are invited to remember her lifelong love of learning, crafting, and caring for young children in Sunday school.
