Bedner’s New Entrance ‘Up in the Air’

Bridgeville officials said they’re currently discussing with the developer of about where the entranceways will go, but any decision is still “up in the air.”

Residents in Bridgeville are worried that the 134-lot residential development planned for the Farm estate in Upper St. Clair will cause traffic woes on their streets.

resident Pasquale DeBlasio asked during its Monday night meeting to use all of its power to negotiate with Upper St. Clair and the developer.

“I would encourage you to do and use all of the resources that Bridgeville has to work with them,” DeBlasio said. “Upper St. Clair gets all the taxes and Bridgeville gets all of the traffic. Just because both of those words start with T doesn’t make them equal.”

Borough Manager Lori Collins said she has been in talks with the developer and to find a solution that will benefit both communities. She said they are still working to figure out which entrance would impact the area the least and still be beneficial to the development.

“It’s up in the air,” Collins said. “We have to go through all of the information and see what the deeds say about who owns what. Everyone is doing their homework right now.”

Collins said they’re continuing to meet and could not say if the developer has a preference for an entrance that might impact Bridgeville. She said in September that , but a entrance near Cook School Road was still a possibility.

• Joe Verduci of the Bridgeville Athletic Association said two new members have been appointed to the board. The new board members are Jim Struzzi, , and Mike Mincin, who is a Bethel Park police officer.

• Council approved a bid from T.A. Robinson Asphalt Paving to reconstruct McMillen Street at a cost of about $85,000. Work on the road that leads to will not begin until spring.

• The council will meet for a budget workshop at 6 p.m. on Nov. 22 and is expected to advertise the preliminary budget at the end of the month. Councilwoman Mary Weise said the budget is tight and they are looking at all areas to cut. “We’ve slashed and slashed and slashed and slashed just to get us through next year,” she said.

• Council accepted the resignation of David Frederick from the , but decline to name a replacement Monday night because they had received only one application. Council President Nino Petrocelli Sr. said he wanted to more applications before making a decision.
