Heidelberg VFD Receives $23K Grant

The Heidelberg Volunteer Fire Department received a $23,261 grant on Friday, June 21 through the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant program.

The Heidelberg Volunteer Fire Department will soon have new boots, fire helmets and emergency radio equipment, thanks to a grant it received last week.

The fire department was awarded $23,261 from the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, and plans to use the funds to purchase needed materials for the firefighters.

Congressman Tim Murphy presented the check to the fire department during Heidelberg Family Night in the Park on June 21.

“We thank Congressman Murphy for his support, as these much needed grant funds will allow our fire company to make necessary upgrades to our radio equipment while properly outfitting many of our new members with new helmets and boots,” said Chief Joe Wissel, Jr.
